Welcome Residents of Tybee Island,
Atlantic Waste would like to thank you and your representatives for the opportunity to provide you with the highest quality waste and recycling service possible. We feel that we will be a significant upgrade from your former waste service provider. To give you some background Atlantic Waste was started in Savannah, in 1998, by Ben & Burke Wall. We have grown to be the largest local owned waste hauling and collection company in the Coastal Empire through providing superior service and we plan on providing Tybee Island the same excellent service. Our hope is that our website helps explain and detail what services we are providing and also what we ask from you, the Tybee Island residents.
The Island will be split into (4) four zones, each representing a service day Monday through Thursday. Garbage and Recycling will both be picked up on the same day in each of the four zones. Yard waste will be collected on the entire island on Fridays. Garbage collection of “landfill only waste” will be picked up once per week in the cart with the green lid. Recycling will be collected in the blue recycling carts.
Garbage collection of “landfill only waste” will be picked up by zone Monday thru Thursday per week in the green lid cart.
Acceptable waste shall include:
Non-hazardous household and commercial refuse ei. food scraps, glass bottles, used diapers, etc.
Items that are not allowed are:
Please NONE THESE PICTURED BELOW:
Pickup will be on the same day as your garbage pickup for all of Tybee Island. Recycling will be collected in the blue recycling carts.
Acceptable recyclables shall include:
Grocery store plastic bags, Styrofoam, Film, Glass and Bubble Wrap ARE NOT recyclable. Glass is not worth recycling because it costs more to process and it’s a lower quality material than the raw virgin sand material needed to make new glass.
Pickup will be picked up on Friday for all of Tybee Island.
Yard waste shall be:
Tree limbs and Yard trimmings need to be kept separate from garbage and recyclables by residential generators. Each resident who collects yard trimmings and leaves needs to bag them in a BROWN PAPER SACK (PLASTIC BAGS WILL NOT BE COLLECTED DUE TO BEING UNRECYCLABLE) and placed curbside. Each bag or container placed out for collection may weigh no more than seventy-five (75) pounds. Yard Waste, such as tree limbs, are to be stacked in piles no longer than five (5) feet in length, five (5) feet high, and five (5) feet deep. Tree trunks larger than four (4) inches in diameter will not be collected. In the event a resident’s yard waste is out of compliance, both the resident and the City will be notified as to the reason their waste was not picked up. If you have an excess amount of yard waste, we will remove the allotted amount and a notice will be left as to why the entire pile was not picked up, along with instructions to the resident on disposing of the rest. If you have yard waste in excess of five (5) cubic yards, please call Atlantic Waste at 912-964-2000 to arrange pickup for an additional fee.
Please do this:
One bulk item may be placed curbside for pickup on your normal garbage day. This includes appliances, furniture, and other large bulky items. If you require additional items be picked up, please contact the Atlantic Waste office at 912-964-2000 and we can get those items for you. There will be an additional cost to be determined based upon the size, quantity and weight of items to be disposed.
Please call 912-964-2000 for any other questions, complaints and/or compliments.
All garbage and recycling on the Island will be picked up side-door. This will keep the streets of Tybee free of garbage carts and will mean residents no longer have to pull the carts to the street. For the safety of our residential team and the protection of your privacy, we will not be opening locked fence gates to retrieve carts or entering garages, so please find a place for your carts which meets that criteria. As long as the carts are not behind any locked fencing, in garages or under carports, the residential team will retrieve and empty the containers.
